Drivers of cross-shore chenier dynamics off a drowning coastal plain

چکیده

A chenier is a beach ridge, consisting of sand and/or shells, overlying muddy substrate. In this paper, we explore the cross-shore dynamics cheniers in their ‘active’ phase, i.e. phase between formation and landing on shore can no longer be reached by daily wave tidal influences. While described literature are known to only migrate onshore until they reach stable position with crest level above influences, observations Demak suggest existence an alternative state, highly dynamic short term, but term. To developed idealised model investigate under The able predict both offshore migration; migration mainly driven action, while induced lag, or effect storm season. For certain combinations waves, tide (incl. lag) season effect, predicts dynamically chenier. absence lag yields ‘classic’ that welds onto shoreline migration.

A coastal morphodynamic model for cross-shore sediment transport

A numerical model to represent the mechanisms of cross-shore sediment transport induced by wave and storm events has been established. The model consists of three sub-models (wave transformation, morphodynamic movement, and sedimentation) capable of representing the transport and redistribution of four grain sizes over a coastal area. It is designed to simulate the morphological evolution cause...

Development of a mechanical earth model in an Iranian off-shore gas field

Wellbore instability is a quite common event during drilling, and causes many problems such as stuck pipe and lost circulation. It is primarily due to the inadequate understanding of the rock properties, pore pressure, and earth stress environment prior to well construction. This study aims to use the existing relevant logs, drilling, and other data from offset wells to construct a precise mech...

Upper Coastal Plain of southeastern Arkansas, USA

To contribute to an understanding of forest management on secondary forest succession, we conducted vegetation surveys in a chronosequence of pine stands ranging in age from 1 to 59 years. Adjacent areas were compared at 1, 7, 12, and 17 years following two reproduction cutting methods (clearcuts or pine seed-tree cuts); a 59-year-old pine stand that was periodically thinned was also included t...

California Coastal Upwelling Onset Variability: Cross-Shore and Bottom-Up Propagation in the Planktonic Ecosystem

The variability of the California Current System (CCS) is primarily driven by variability in regional wind forcing. In particular, the timing of the spring transition, i.e., the onset of upwelling-favorable winds, varies considerably in the CCS with changes in the North Pacific Gyre Oscillation. Using a coupled physical-biogeochemical model, this study examines the sensitivity of the ecosystem ...

Automated Off-shore Studless Chain Inspection System

This work deals with the design and in-house operational results of a novel Automated Ultrasonic Inspection System (ASCIS) for studless chain links with diameter ranging from 111 to 185 mm, conceived and developed by INTERLAB Ingeniería Electrónica (IIE) for VICINAY Cadenas, a major industry devoted to manufacture of chains for both the shipbuilding industry and offshore exploration. The system...
